Board of Directors

Susan Ritter, Chair, a former partner in the Middlebury law firm of English, Carroll, Ritter and Boe, is now part of Middlebury College’s Advancement Team as their Associate Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations. After graduating from Middlebury College in 1983, Ms. Ritter attended Temple University School of Law, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1986. Ms. Ritter returned to Middlebury in 1995, and as well as practicing privately, served as the Attorney for the Municipal Law Center for the Vermont League of Cities and Towns, in Montpelier, Vermont from 2001–2002. Ms. Ritter currently serves on the Porter Hospital Board and is a Hearing Panel member for the VT Professional Responsibility Board. She previously served on the Board of Directors for the Mary Hogan Elementary School, Porter Auxiliary Board, the Board of Trustees of the Middlebury Congregational Church, and is the past President of the United Way of Addison County. Susan, husband Bob, and their three children live in Middlebury.

Bill Perkins, Vice Chair, moved to Middlebury in 1980 when he and his family began ownership and management of the local establishment, Emilio’s Delicatessen. Coupling civic engagement with his business ventures, Bill is serving in his sixth term as a member of the Middlebury Selectboard, has served as President of both United Way of Addison County and United Ways of Vermont, and is currently the President of the Vermont League of Cities and Towns. With his wife, Virginia, Bill raised three children and is enjoying the adventures of seven grandchildren.

Rob Alberts, President, is a local businessman and owner of Middlebury Fitness and Community Investment Counselors. Middlebury Fitness is a full-service fitness and wellness center offering programs for people of all ages and all fitness levels. Community Investment Counselors is an investment firm committed to building long-term financial security for its clients, primarily through fee-based asset allocation programs. Mr. Alberts currently serves as the Vice President of the Board of Directors of the United Way of Addison County, and serves as a Governor-appointed Commissioner for the Vermont Housing Finance Agency. Rob was also a high school and college basketball coach for seventeen years. Rob, wife Sarah, and their three children, live in Bridport.

Sherry Klinck, Vice President, serves on both the Porter Medical Center and Porter Hospital Boards and previously chaired Porter Medical Center’s Auxiliary. Sherry’s lengthy career in education includes classroom teaching and private academic tutoring. She even incorporated these talents in her work as Keewaydin Foundation’s Executive Administrator by running a summer reading school for campers. For fun, she and her husband, John, enjoy camping, travel, and their five grandchildren.

Kim Loewer, Treasurer, is an Enrolled Agent and owner of Loewer & Associates, specializing in personal and business income tax preparation, tax controversy resolution and accounting services.  He holds a Bachelor of Arts cum laude from Middlebury College (1976).  Mr Loewer has served as the president for Middlebury College Alumni Association and the Porter Medical Center Auxiliary, and served as a board member for Porter Hospital, Otter Creek Child Center, and Northern New England Society of Enrolled Agents.  He is founder and president of Friends of Panther Hockey and enjoys radio broadcasting Middlebury College hockey games.  Kim and his wife, Judi, reside in Weybridge with their two labrador retrievers.

Mark Gleason, a Project Manager in the office of Facilities Services at Middlebury College, holds a Bachelor of Science from Princeton University (1988) and a Master of Science from the University of Texas at Austin (1993). In his position at the College, Mr. Gleason is involved in planning, permitting, and construction of new buildings and major renovations. Mark has previously served on the Board of Trustees for the Middlebury Congregational Church and is very active in the Middlebury Amateur Hockey Association. Mark was born and raised in Middlebury and now lives here with his wife Shannon, and their two children.

Special Advisor

David Colman, former President and CEO of Vermont’s only Continuing Care Retirement Community, Wake Robin, in Shelburne, is serving as a special advisor to Eastview’s Board in all facets of retirement community development and start-up operations. Prior to his involvement with Wake Robin (1989–2006), David was Director of Marketing for senior housing projects in Philadelphia, Boston and Morganton, NC. David, who retired in 2007, lives in Middlebury with his partner David Clark.
